Summer is a great time for our youth to help our sick and elder. One idea was to visit the sick and elder. They are often lonely and might have no family in the area. For someone who is living alone or in a retirement home with no family in the area, it could be one of the biggest blessings they could receive. They don't have to be lonely and hungry. They in return have so much valuable history to teach our youth.
BASA's VIP participation at Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund
Because we CARE...
Bay Area Soccer Academy (BASA) attended Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund (DREDF) on May 8, 2008, for their annual celebration of their work and disability rights. Disability rights and technological innovation have a unique relationship. This fundraising event featured their honoree, technology pioneer Jim Fruchterman, in a discussion about the intersection of disability civil rights law and technology innovation with John D. Kemp and Arlene Mayerson.
The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund, founded in 1979, is a leading national civil rights law and policy center directed by individuals with disabilities and parents who have children with disabilities.
Our children learned from and spoke with Jim Fruchterman, John D. Kemp, Arlene Mayerson and everyone else there involved in representing people with disabilities in precedent setting litigation to ensure nondiscrimination in education, employment, housing, transportation, public accommodations and community life.
