Purpose The Bay Area Soccer Academy (BASA), Adult Men’s Select Player Program, identifies players that exhibit skillful qualities with the intent of becoming a part of the BASA Pitbull's Club Select Teams player pool. Once selected, the player will be showcased in competitions against amateur, semi professional teams. The exposure that our select players may gain by competing against those amateur, semi professional teams can result in professional opportunities for those players. In addition to identifying our select players, the program provides our coaches the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in highly competitive game situations.
Goal The goal of the BASA Adult Men's Select Player Program is to form the BASA Pitbull's Club Adult Men's Select Teams. The Select Teams will represent the BASA Pitbull's Club Adult Men's in competition with other amateur, semi professional teams. Through these competitive games identification and selection of our Select players into the professional ranks is the ultimate challenge for each player, as well as providing the BASA Pitbull's Club an identity through this Select Player Program.
Structure The structure of the Select Player Program begins at the BASA U.S. Club Sanctioned NorCal Premier Soccer Adult League, where BASA & Pitbull's Club Director of Coaching seek out the best available players. Once these players have been identified, they are invited to attend the BASA Adult Men's Select Player Camp. At the Select Player Camp players will be tested in training sessions and games to determine a BASA Pitbull's Club Select Team. The BASA Pitbull's Adult Men's Select Teams then schedules events/games during the following year to provide the players opportunities to display their talents in front of amateur, semi professional competitions.
In addition to players being invited to the Select Player Camp, Select Teams are invited to compete in the BASA Cup.
BASA Cup The BASA Adult Men's Select Teams Cup. Annually, semi professional teams from SFSFL and CPSA are invited to participate at the BASA Cup. As part of the BASA Adult Men's Select Player Program, in addition to teams playing for a Championship in a tournament format, players are scouted throughout the tournament by the BASA Pitbull's Director of Coaching to represent BASA Pitbull's at the SFSFL. This event was established in 1998 to determine a Championship for Select Teams.

These type of events give our amateur, semi professional Teams programs an up close and personal opportunity to evaluate BASA Adult Men's players in a direct setting wherein the BASA Adult Men's players showcase their talents against the very players they hope to join.
